History Of SONAMARG:
Sonamarg has historical significance as a gateway on the old Silk Road, which connected Tibet with Jammu and Kashmir. Previously, this Silk Route connected China and Tibet by way of Gilgit. The hill station is now a well-liked vacation spot for hikers and fishermen, and after the Kargil War with neighbouring Pakistan in 1999, it serves as a key strategic location for the Indian Army. 3.Amarnath Temple and Yatra
Approximately 29 kilometres from Pahalgam, at an elevation of 3,888 metres, is the holy temple known as Amarnath Ji, or Amarnath Temple. ACCESSING AMARNATH
From Jammu to Pahalgam and Baltal, you can either take a bus operated by the state transportation system or rent a private vehicle. The shortest of two trekking routes leads to Amarnath Cave one via Baltal and the conventional route through Srinagar. You can choose to travel to Amarnath Yatra by helicopter rather than the tiring, protracted hike.
From Baltal
The streamlined route travels through Baltal, Domial, Barari, and Sangam before beginning at Chandanwari Base in Pahalgam. It is 14 kilometres long and can be completed in one to two days. Either walking or hiring a palki are options (a seat carried on the shoulders of people).
Through Pahalgam
The longer and more time-consuming route, via Pahalgam, takes one to three days to reach Amarnath Cave. The pilgrims can easily travel this route because it is much wider than the Baltal route. For the entire journey to the Amarnath Temple, you can also rent ponies.
Via Helicopter
Amarnath Temple is also reachable by helicopter. Driving up to Baltal and boarding the chopper will get you to Panchtarni when you arrive in Srinagar. You only need to walk for around 6 kilometres from Panchtarni, or you can hire a palki or horse. The Amarnath Yatra begins in June and lasts till August.
POINTS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON AMARNATH YATRA:
Before embarking on the Amarnath Yatra, online registration must be finished. You must complete an application form, which can be downloaded online, and provide information such as your full name, gender, address, state, and mobile number.
