BEST TIME FOR TREKKING IN KASHMIR:

Kashmir has a slightly distinct hiking schedule than the other Himalayan states in India. The ideal time to trek in Kashmir is from July through October, when the region experiences two seasons: monsoon and winter/autumn. Trekking in April is also great.

Since Kashmir does not experience much rain, the months of July to September are ideal for hiking. Rainfall occurs throughout these months, but it is minimal and does not interfere with the treks. The renowned Kashmir Great Lakes Trek and Gadsar Lake Trek are the best treks to do in Kashmir during the monsoon season. During the winter season (October-March), Kashmir has only a few treks to offer, such as the Naranag Trek and the Gangabal Lake Trek. In the early months of winter, trekkers can also undertake the legendary Tarsar and Marsar Lakes Trek.
