Section I: Dara Harwan to Srinagar

You can get a taxi to Dara Harwan from Lal Chowk, Srinagar, or the airport. A taxi ride to Dara Harwan from Lal Chowk will take about 50 minutes.

Section II:Dara Harwan to Dara Top Section

From the village that serves as the starting point for your walk, Dara Harwan.
From the Scholars School, start your journey. Ask the locals about it if you can't find it, and they can direct you if they can't. Follow the trail that gradually climbs to Dara Top once you are on the rocky, muddy trail.

You can see all of Srinagar city from Dara Top, which you reach after an arduous trek on the trail. Fit beginners may also handle this because of the trail's zigzag layout. When you
going through thorny bushes and some of them dense. As you walk past these, be careful.

From the base to Dara Top, it is 280 metres away. You'll need 30 minutes to get to the peak.


Section III: Dara Top to Mamneth Top

When you arrive at Dara Top, two trails will be in front of you. Two trails diverge, one heading left towards the peak and the other straight downhill. Adhere to the mountainside path. The difficulty of the trail is moderate.

You will have a wider perspective of Srinagar city as you ascend. The landscape is unlevel, with outcrops of sharp rock and gradually sloping grasses.

You will come upon another track coming from Dara Base after a 30-minute climb. The majority of this trail is vertical, and nomads utilise it as a shortcut. Since this trail is quite steep and has numerous perilous sections, we strongly advise against taking it.

Another track may be seen going to the right. Avoid doing that. Take the path that crosses and climbs to the top of the mountain. This phase of the walk is pretty exciting and gives it an adventurous aspect. Rain causes surfaces to become slick. Wear appropriate hiking footwear with sufficient traction and ankle support, and bring a set of sturdy trekking poles. You will arrive at the green gully after 50 minutes of a steady stroll on the trail. The trail's green gully is a portion that is flanked by big bushes on both sides. You can reach the Mamneth Top entrance after a 30-minute easy walk once you have crossed the green gully.
When you reach the summit, proceed to the campground point to enjoy the greatest views of Srinagar.


Descent from the Peak

The same track that leads to Mamneth Top is used for the two-hour descent as well. The way that the local shepherds follow is not recommended because of the steep drop; instead, adhere to the one that was previously mentioned.Make sure to descend while the sun is still out if you do not want to remain the night. It is ideal to get to the base camp before dusk because the trail borders Dachigam National Park and locals have reported seeing wild animals there.

Ideal Time to Go on the Mamneth Top Trek


May, June, and July are the ideal months to complete the Mamneth Top Trek. You can see Srinagar's city lights clearly during these months because of the exceptional night time visibility. Additionally, the entire meadow is a carpet of green from May through July.
If you are new to trekking or prefer to travel in good weather, it is recommended to schedule your trek during the aforementioned months because there is a considerable likelihood of rain and snowfall before April and after September. However, a lot of adventure clubs have started doing the Mamneth Top Trek in the winter as well in recent years. With sufficient planning and the appropriate essentials this hike can be taken in the winter as well.

HOW TO ACCESS MAMNETH

Take Maulana Azad Road in the direction of Dalgate from Lal Chowk. Three kilometres separate Lal Chowk from Dalgate Bridge. You'll need 15 minutes to get there.After crossing the Dalgate Bridge, turn right onto Boulevard Road and go towards Dal Lake. Once you arrive at the New Theed taxi stand, continue down the same route. Three well-known tourist destinations that you will pass through are the Mughal gardens of Nishat, Shalimar, and Harwan. Dalgate Bridge is 16 kilometres from the taxi station in New Theed. This will take about 40 minutes to accomplish.Take the road directly in front of you towards Faqir Gujri from the New Theed cab station. Continue along this path until you reach Dara. Two kilometres separate New Theed and Dara.The Scholars school is where the same road ends.You can begin your Mamneth Trail trip from Scholars School. Remind yourself that the route is hilly and has blind corners by driving carefully and paying attention to the road.

Although it is located in a remote area, hiking to Mamneth Top is safe.Dachigam National Park is nearby. However, you must exercise caution as nomads have frequently reported seeing wildlife in the area, including Himalayan black bears, leopards, and jackals.
The walk is made extra safer by the presence of kind local shepherds and nomads who are always willing to provide a helping hand.
